About to begin his 5th year as Muirfins Head Coach, Axel is a USA/YMCA Head Swim Coach with over 35 years coaching experience developing State Champions and numerous collegiate swimmers. He was 3 times voted "Coach of the Year" for Division 5AII State Championships in AZ. Axel is a former Olympic Trial Qualifier, Big Ten Champion, and 4-year letterman at The Ohio State University. Axel is currently Head Coach of the year-round, Delaware YMCA Riptides Seniors (ages 11 and over). He has been married to Pam for over 30 years and has 3 sons, Alex, Toby and Zach.
Back for a 2nd year as a Muirfins assistant coach, Alex has also been teaching swim lessons for 4 years and was a swimmer for around 14 years. She swam for the Hilltop swim club, Grove City Manta rays, and for Grove City High School. She is currently attending Columbus State Community College and is planning to pursue a career in Zoology and animal conservationism.
Born and raised in New Albany, Ohio, Jordan first began swimming for the Plain Township Aquatic Center. He continued on swimming for New Albany Middle School & High School. Although he did not continue his swimming career in college, Jordan went on to play water polo for The Ohio State University. His passion has led him to coaching the New Albany High School water polo team, teaching private lessons, and now his first summer with the Muirfins. He plans to remain active in the swimming and water polo community as he pursues his goal of one day teaching English abroad in China.
